A delegation from the University of Derby comprising Professors Kath Mitchell, Judith Lamie, Paul Stewart and Lu Liu have just returned from a highly successful visit to China as part of the Midlands Engine Trade Mission to China.
In a week of intense activity, the delegation conducted successful collaborative talks with the Universities of Hefei and Anhui, discussing and agreeing on actions to take forward on both research and taught activities.
Memorandums of Understanding were signed between Derby City Council and Hefei City, Derbyshire County Council and Anhui Province.

Travelling on to Shanghai, the Derby University representatives attended the Regional Leaders Summit and Banquet at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, joining representatives from Derby and Derbyshire City and County Councils, and Business Leaders from the Region.

The delegation attended the 2016 China Outbound Conference organised by the China-Britain Business Council. Derby University VC Kath Mitchell joined a panel chaired by Nottingham University’s Professor Chris Rudd to discuss pressing issues on Innovation and Technology in the context of China-Britain collaboration.

The whole day proved to be an excellent opportunity to join our regional colleagues and representatives from Midlands Engine in networking and exploration of collaborative and cooperative Research, Innovation and Enterprise activities with our Chinese counterparts
