A combination of the Matlab image processing toolbox, transfer learning update of an existing convolutional neural network plus parameter tuning via Genetic Algorithm has yielded my first edition sementer which identifies organs, segments and builds a 3-d model from CT (or MRI) scans. Still a long way to go, but a good first step. Interestingly, all the training images have been data mined from open sources on the net.
